Yup, I was at my in-laws for Christmas. And wow, were we busy... It was fun but it was also a sober time... We had Christmas with her dads side on Christmas Eve. We had it at her grandmas house, so it was pretty odd being their without her grandma being there... Lots of emotions that night. The next day we had Christmas at my sister-in-laws place. That was a lot of fun. Then on Friday we had the visitation and Saturday was the funeral. Yesterday we finally got some time to relax. Just a busy busy week... But fun.

This is a fun jump in and post thread! Everyone should do it! Okay, maybe not everyone...

I can understand that! Spent a quiet one here, made lasagna for my hubby and watched the tv (dr who marathon for some of it and then harry potter on the weekend)

and now the cold is back

and staying instead where its nice and warm (got a nice warm blanket for christmas so have to break it in

Cold is back with a vengeance too... Went from being nice to super cold real quick... Going to go for a walk in a bit, even though it is pretty darn cold out... Need to get back to working out or at least being more active. Holidays make me fat...

Woo, after 3 weeks of having our bathroom shelf pulled apart and all of that stuff they FINALLY got it fixed. About damn time... Of course I spent a couple hours this morning cleaning up their mess and then putting it back together but at least it is now done.

welll....at least they fixed it...this year

spent my morning going around to put up new calendars (I celebrated the new year with the japanese at the weeeeee hours of the morning here (--ok the sun was coming up, but still))....and found I had 2 extra calendars...so put another nail in the wall and have another calendar (guess you can never have too many, right?)....naps planned for the rest of the day and staying inside where its nice and toasty (and fiep has the toast).

True, could have had to wait until next year. Which by my clock is only 1 hour and 45 mins away. O.O And I'm really not all that excited about it. Just kinda meh at this point. Another year lived, woo. Go team I guess.

A bit cold today, but I took a walk this afternoon then came home and did some filing. Just a real blast... But it needed to be done and today was the first day I had a chance to get that stuff done. So yay... Zzzz...

yeah, got stuff done today too...all the new calendars are up, did the last of the dishes in the sink, put away a bunch of stuff that I was supposed to have done last month (had to organize them first, then get out the box they belong in which is in a corner, under a pile of other stuff, etc).....I even started working on dinner for tomorrow (marinating some flank steak). More than I did for the last week so I feel like I got a lot done (even put away the xmas cards, sorted the bills and shredded some junk mail).

another year goes by, makes me feel even older. Been working on some genealogy for my great grand parents...looking at records from 1910.....and trying to think what it was like 100 years ago. Very strange.

It is always a good day when stuff gets done. That does remind me, I need to run my dishwasher soon... Running out of dishes to use. Meh.

I made chicken parmigiana last night. Was pretty good. Wasn't my best but still was good.

dinner last night was....dumplings (boiled), was watching too much kung fu panda and got hungry for them

(good thing I had some in my freezer!)....will be having that flank steak tonight as fajitas.....though I think another nap is in order first.

was a very quiet night here--no firecrackers, fireworks, no noise at all...the new year just crept in and then I....yes, took a nap

I ended up at my parents house. Had dinner with them and my grandparents, so that was fun. Got out of cooking tonight, so that was nice.

It was quiet here as well. I did have a co-worker who lives in a different neighborhood who had their rear windshield broken. It appears as though someone shot their gun in the air to celebrate New Years and the bullet came down through their rear windshield and hit their speaker as well... Stupid people should not be allowed weapons.

not cooking sometimes is a really good thing. I made too much of the fajitas so we had them for 2 nights so I didnt have to do too much cooking tonight (just cleaning 2 frying pans and dumping the veggies in one and the meat in the other and then turning them on)

glad I dont live the boonies--no guns around here (there are other things stupid people shouldnt be allowed as well--but thats another soap box altogether).

and its supposed to get colder and more of the S word

ah well, guess it was inevitable that we'd get more.

Not cooking is great, so long as you have food to eat. No food means I need to cook. I won't cook tonight but tomorrow I probably will again. Then I won't have to cook for another week or more.

I wouldn't call the middle of the "big" city here the boonies.

They were calling for ice today. So far I guess it is just rain. Thank goodness for that... Don't really want that ice crap. Wednesday the high is supposed to be 2 degrees... Yikes...

"big" city---lol, anything not in a major metropolitan area is a boonie (major metro areas are like Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Detroit, ....only posssssssilbe Peoria--most folks have never even HEARD of it)...so places like the quad cities, bloomington/normal, heck even springfield are boonies. so your 'big' city...is still a boonie

yeah the forecast for the next week is pretty dang frosty (high one of the days isnt even supposed to be above 0!)....guess our polar vortex is back.

Hey if it plays in Peoria, big deal right? I think it counts since then. Very few people would call where they live the boonies. Where we teach though, that be the boonies!

Polar vortex is back and in full force... Though it wasn't quite as icy as it could have been today. Hopefully the ice stays away... For good.

I have lived in the boonies (remember I went to school in the quad cities--VERY boonies). I have lived in big cities (Nagoya is one of the biggest cities in japan--top 10 I believe)....I have lived in the 'burbs....I have lived in the capital (Boise) of a state and I have lived in places no one has heard of (and until I moved there --neither had I)....so yeah, Peoria is the boonies

got my heate blanke out, my hot cocoa by my side and a bunch of dvd's to play--not planning on leaving the house for a few days (got plenty of chocolate to keep me feed

).....so the polar vortex can play for a few days...then I have some errrands to rrrun...sooo it had betterr be gone by next weeeekendddd.

now I have to figure out which chocolate bar is for dinner tonight

lol You think what you want. It is around the 7th largest city in the state (followed closely by my wifes hometown). It has over 110,000 people in it. It is no Chicago but that is a good thing in my opinion. Peoria does feel small after living in/around it for my entire life.

I have to start leaving the apartment again starting Monday. Back to work for the 2nd semester. Here is to hoping it goes by smoothly and quickly!
